Detailed Description
Available only in a controlled-production run of 1,500 with the serial number engraved on each caseback, this extraordinary limited edition, re-interpreting Seiko’s landmark 1968 diver’s watch with updated technology and design, evokes the endangered environment and wildlife of the Arctic Ocean in support of the Seiko “Save the Ocean” campaign, dedicated to marine conservation. The silver dial is patterned to suggest Arctic glaciers, while the GMT hand and the 24-hour scale are in an Arctic blue mirroring the northern ocean. Framed by a Made-in-Japan black ceramic uni-directional rotating elapsed timing bezel with knurled edge for enhanced operability, the dial also features a date calendar and large LumiBrite markers and hands for enhanced legibility. Providing a power reserve of approximately 72 hours, the longest of any Seiko mechanical watch, the caliber 6R54 24-jewel automatic GMT movement beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers manual winding capability. The GMT hand can be set independently in one-hour increments, without interrupting the time-of-day hands, to provide a second time zone reading at a glance.
